On Viking dual-zone undercounter wine cellars with TruProtect control, such as the VUWC2441 and DFUW2441C, E3 means the upper compartment sensor A is out of range. The control uses that sensor to hold the upper zone at your set temperature. On single-zone cellars, E3 instead refers to the evaporator thermistor, called sensor B, so the model matters when you compare notes.
1. Check the upper zone temperature with a thermometer. 2. Unplug the cellar for a minute and restore power. 3. Hold SET and press ON four times to clear the code. 4. Keep the door closed. 5. If E3 returns, call us.
Only on dual-zone cellars. On single-zone cellars, E3 refers to the evaporator sensor B. Tell us your model number when you call so we bring the right part for your cellar.
The lower zone uses its own sensor B and reports E4 on dual-zone models. Both codes can show up together, which tells us the control may be involved, not only a single sensor.
We test the sensor, replace it if needed and confirm both zones hold their set temperature afterward. The price is written first, with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
