What Hi/Low Temp Upper means

On Viking Professional and Designer dual-zone undercounter wine cellars with TruProtect control, such as the VUWC2441 and DFUW2441C, the red HIGH/LOW TEMP message center reads Hi/Low Temp Upper when the upper zone strays from its set range. TruProtect must be enabled. The alert can appear when set points are changed by more than 10F, after high usage, or on first installation, and pressing ON resets it.

Common causes of Hi/Low Temp Upper

  • Upper zone set point changed by more than 10F
  • High usage or a large warm load
  • Recent installation settling
  • Door seal or door position letting warm air in
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press ON to reset the message. 2. Close the door and make sure nothing blocks it. 3. Wait several hours after a set point change or a big load. 4. Compare the upper zone with a thermometer. 5. If the message returns with steady settings, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • After a set point change the alert is expected and needs no visit
  • A repeating alert needs a cooling check
  • Sensor testing requires proper tools
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

Hi/Low Temp UpperHi/Low Temp Upper questions
What do the red letters mean?

They show a high or low temperature alert for the upper zone. It is a warning from TruProtect that the zone is outside its range, not always a breakdown.

Is it normal at installation?

Yes. A newly installed cellar can show the alert while it settles. Press ON to reset it and give the cellar time to reach its temperature.

What if it keeps coming back?

Then something is keeping the zone out of range, such as the door seal or a sensor. We find it, quote the price in writing first and cover the work for 30 days.
