Viking Wine Cellar Message "Power Failure": Flashing Amber Alert

What Power Failure means

On Viking Professional and Designer undercounter wine cellars with TruProtect control, such as the VUWC1541C, DUWC1441C and DFUW2441C, POWER FAILURE flashes in amber after the cellar lost power. TruProtect must be enabled. It is normal when the cellar is first installed. Pressing ON resets the message. Undercounter refrigerators and drawers with TruProtect show the same message, so the alert means the same thing there.

Power outage or tripped breaker
Plug pulled out or loose
First power-up after installation

1. Press ON to reset the message. 2. Check the temperature in both zones with a thermometer. 3. Look at the plug and the home breaker. 4. Keep the door closed while the cellar recovers. 5. If the message returns without an outage, call us.

No. It records that power was lost at some point. It is also normal after first installation. Press ON to reset it and check that the cellar is cooling.

Why is it amber and flashing?

That is how TruProtect shows a power interruption. If TruProtect is turned off, the cellar does not show this alert at all, so check the temperature in both zones before you decide anything.

When do I need a technician?
