What Door icon (Door Alert Notification) means

On 2018-and-later Viking 5 Series undercounter refrigerators, such as the VRUI5241G and VBUI5241G, a door icon on the display with a tone every minute is the Door Alert Notification, a reminder rather than a breakdown. It means the door has been open more than 30 minutes. Closing the door resets the alert. On the VUBV524 beverage center the same alert comes after five minutes instead.

Common causes of Door icon (Door Alert Notification)

A door left open for more than 30 minutes
A door not fully closed because a bottle or shelf blocks it
A gasket dirty or worn enough to hold the door slightly open
A door that is out of level

1. Close the door firmly. The alert resets once it is shut. 2. Check that nothing sticks out and blocks the door. 3. Wipe the gasket with warm water and dry it. 4. Check that the unit sits level. 5. If the icon shows with the door closed, call us.

Is the tone a sign of a breakdown?

No. The tone only tells you the door was open too long. Close it and the alert resets, so no repair is needed in that case.

The door is closed, but the icon stays.

Look for something pressing against the door and wipe the gasket. If the icon stays with the door clearly sealed, the door switch needs testing.
