On current Viking Fully Integrated columns with a touch display, such as the FDREIC7300 and FDBMIC7360, the display shows Upper unit open when the refrigerator door has been open for a few minutes. The upper unit is the refrigerator section. The message works like a reminder to close the door, and it clears once the door is shut. If the door is clearly closed and the message stays, the door seal or the door switch is what we would check.
1. Close the refrigerator door firmly and wait a moment. 2. Look for items that stick out and keep the door from sealing. 3. Wipe the door seal with warm water and dry it. 4. Check that the column stands level and the door swings freely. 5. If the message stays with the door shut, call us.
It points to the upper section, the refrigerator compartment of the column. Close that door fully and the message should disappear within a short time.
Check for anything holding the door slightly open and clean the seal. If the message still stays, the door switch or the control needs testing.
A few minutes is fine. Longer periods warm the compartment, so check temperatures with a thermometer. If they stay high after closing the door, call us for an inspection.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
