On current Viking Fully Integrated columns with a touch display, such as the FDREIC7300 and FDBMIC7360, the display shows Upper unit too cold when the refrigerator section is colder than it should be. The official advice is to wait 12 hours and, if the message persists, to call customer service. A fresh load of cold food, a recent setting change or heavy use can cause a brief dip. A message that lasts beyond half a day suggests the control or sensor needs a technician.
1. Check the temperature setting and raise it a degree or two if it is very cold. 2. Move food away from the vents and back wall. 3. Wait a full 12 hours without changing anything else. 4. Check for frozen lettuce, milk or drinks and remove them. 5. If the message is still showing after 12 hours, call us.
Give it 12 hours after you check the setting and clear the airflow. If Upper unit too cold is still shown after that, a technician should test the sensor and control.
Common reasons are a very cold setting, blocked airflow so cold collects, or a sensor that reads warmer than it is. The control then keeps cooling when it should stop.
It is not a safety risk, but food can freeze and spoil texture. We can test the unit and quote a price in writing before work, with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
