Viking DUWC154D Solid Cellar Repair
A DUWC154D is a retired Designer solid door wine cellar, 15 inches wide. With no glass, nobody sees the bottles, and a problem usually comes to light when someone reaches for a bottle and finds it warmer than expected. A solid door seals better than glass when new, but the lower gasket sags over the years and starts letting warm air in along the floor of the cabinet.
On a DUWC154D we begin with the lower edge of the gasket, using a paper strip, then measure the cellar temperature with a thermometer left in place. A hum without cooling leads us to the start parts and the condenser. Shelves are slid in and out to find any that bind. You get a written price before parts are ordered for this retired unit, and a 30-day workmanship warranty follows the repair.
The gasket carries the door weight against gravity, and the lower edge gets crushed by cleaning and opening. We check it first and replace it when it no longer grips.
The compressor may be trying to start through a weak start part, or the condenser may be so dusty that it overheats. We test the start parts and clean the coil before judging the compressor.
It will catch or drag when slid, and sometimes tilts a bottle. We clean the runner, straighten it if needed and replace it when it is worn, then test the shelf with bottles on it.
