Viking DDSB542D Dispenser Side-by-Side
The DDSB542D is a retired 42-inch Designer side-by-side with a dispenser. It complements a Designer Series kitchen in form and function, with a refrigerator that holds its set temperature within one degree and a freezer made for optimal frozen storage. A slow ice maker and a warm refrigerator can share a cause, such as a door that is not sealing.
Holding to one degree depends on honest sensors and tight seals, and the dispenser adds a hole in the door that must be sealed too. Temperature swings, frost and a slow ice maker are the typical calls, and they often have a common cause such as a worn gasket or a weak water valve.
We measure real temperatures, then test the water path and inspect the seals. A written price comes first, and a 30-day warranty follows.
A drifting sensor or a gasket leak is typical. We compare the display with a thermometer and test both. Both are inexpensive to check compared with replacing larger parts.
The dispenser actuator or its door flap may have failed. We test the switch and the motor. A flap that jams can also mimic a failed motor.
Water flow slows and ice cubes get small. Replacing the filter often restores both. Changing the filter at the scheduled interval prevents it. The filter should be replaced on schedule, and a newly fitted one should be flushed through before use.
