Viking VGR5364G Range with Griddle
The VGR5364G is a current 5 Series 36-inch freestanding gas range with four open burners, a griddle, VariSimmer on every burner, a ProFlow convection oven and SureSpark re-ignition. The griddle makes it a favorite for families that cook breakfast on the range itself.
Because the griddle takes grease and sugar, it is where we start when owners report uneven browning. We test surface heat with a thermometer, then check the thermostat or valve and the flame beneath the plate. The open burners get the usual treatment: clean ports, seat caps, spark test. In the oven we check the lock after self-clean and the sensor.
Gas smell? Leave first, then call the gas utility from outside. The cost is quoted in writing ahead of time, and the work comes with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
The flame under that side may be weak, or the thermostat may be reading incorrectly. We check the flame pattern and test the thermostat. We then relight it and confirm the plate heats evenly all across.
Scrape it while warm, wipe with a damp cloth and oil it lightly. Avoid cold water on a hot plate, because it can warp the metal.
It has its own burner and control, but it draws from the same supply. We test it separately so the cooktop burners are not disturbed. Heating a cold plate gently also protects it from warping.
