The DDSB483D is a retired Designer 48-inch side-by-side with a dispenser, wide enough to take over most of a kitchen wall. It is the dispenser sibling of the DDSB483, and the extra letter at the end changes which water and ice parts we order.

A refrigerator this big has plenty of gasket to wear and plenty of water line to leak. The dispenser circuit is the extra system: filter, valve, tubing and ice maker. The first sign of trouble is usually a dispenser that dribbles or an ice bin that stays empty.

Why does my dispenser drip after I release the lever?

Residual water or a valve that does not close fully. We check the valve and the line and replace the part that is leaking. A line that has trapped air can also dribble for a short while after a filter change.

Does the extra D in the model number matter?

Yes. It tells us the unit has a dispenser, so the water and ice parts differ from the non-dispenser model. Asking you for the full number saves time and avoids a wrong part.

What if my ice bin is empty but the dispenser works?

The ice maker may not be filling or freezing. We check the supply to the ice maker, its heater and its control. A frozen fill tube can also stop the supply even when the valve works.
