Viking DDSB483 48-Inch Designer Side-by-Side
The DDSB483 is an older Designer Series side-by-side, 48 inches wide and meant to wear custom cabinetry panels. It is a retired, big-kitchen refrigerator that has been in service a long time, and its seals show it. A gradual loss of cooling is more typical than a sudden stop, which is why we measure before replacing parts.
Long service leaves a signature: gaskets that have flattened and let cold air slip past, sensors that read off, and a compressor that runs longer to compensate. When both doors have aged together, the fridge side warms while the freezer side builds frost.
We measure both compartments, test the sensors and check each gasket. You get the price in writing first, and repairs come with a 30-day warranty.
Warm room air is leaking past an aged gasket and freezing at the edge. Replacing the gasket stops the frost, and we also check the door alignment.
Airflow from the freezer into the fresh food side may be restricted by frost, or the sensor may be reading wrongly. We check the damper, the frost and the sensor.
Gaskets and sensors are generally obtainable. We confirm the numbers for your model before giving a quote. Hinge parts for these older doors are less common, so we check availability early.
