On Viking Professional VDSC5xxT dual-fuel ranges with the EOC4 control, such as the VDSC536T-6B or VDSC548T-4GQ, Meat Probe means the probe is shorted or its operation is inconsistent with what the control expects. This differs from No Probe, which means the input is open. The control cannot trust the reading, so probe cooking is blocked while normal baking may still work.
1. Let the oven cool. 2. Unplug the probe and check the plug and cable for kinks, burns or crushed spots. 3. Wipe the probe clean and dry. 4. Plug it back in fully. 5. If Meat Probe returns, bake with a plain timer and call us about the probe.
No Probe means the control sees nothing connected. Meat Probe means it sees a probe that is shorted or behaving oddly. Different problem, different checks.
Usually yes, with a standard timed bake. Cancel any probe setting and check your results with an oven thermometer or a hand-held probe, since the built-in probe reading cannot be trusted right now.
