What Griddle RTD (2 flashes then 4 s off) means

On Viking Professional 48-inch and 60-inch ranges with a griddle, such as the VDSC548-4G, VGSC548-4G and VGIC4864GSS, the griddle cycle light flashing twice and then staying off for four seconds means the griddle RTD probe has failed or is misreading. The RTD is the temperature probe the thermostat control uses to hold griddle heat. On 48-inch ranges the same pattern also applies to the left-hand oven, so we check which one is meant.

Common causes of Griddle RTD (2 flashes then 4 s off)

A griddle temperature probe (RTD) that has failed open or shorted
A damaged probe wire or a loose connector
On 48-inch ranges, the same pattern coming from the left-hand oven probe instead
A thermostat control that cannot read the probe

1. Turn the griddle and oven off and let everything cool. 2. Should a gas smell ever appear, walk out and call the gas utility from a neighbor's or your yard. 3.
