E:08 means a main board communication error on current Viking VDWU and FDWU dishwashers in the 324, 524 and 724 series, including the water-softener versions. The main board runs the wash cycles and talks to the other boards in the machine. When that link is lost, the E:08 icon shows and the dishwasher may stop in the middle of a cycle or ignore the buttons.
1. Switch the dishwasher off at the breaker, wait two minutes, and turn it back on. 2. Close the door firmly and press Start. 3. If the buttons respond and the cycle runs, keep an eye on it. 4. If E:08 returns, stop using the dishwasher and call us. Board-level work is for a technician.
Yes. It runs the cycles and listens to the other boards. E:08 means it lost contact with them, so the machine cannot be relied on to wash or drain correctly.
A surge can upset electronics. A reset may bring the machine back, but if E:08 returns, the board or its link has a real problem that a reset will not cure.
Sometimes it clears for a few cycles. If E:08 comes back, the connection or the board is the reason, and a repair is the next step. We quote the price in writing first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
