On Viking Professional VDB450 and FDB451 built-in dishwashers, Diverter Timeout is flash pattern 1-4: the Pots/Pans light flashes once and the Normal Wash light flashes four times. The diverter sends wash water to the upper or lower spray arm. The control waited for it to reach its position, did not see it arrive in time, and stopped the cycle with this message.
1. Hold START for four seconds to reset, then start a short cycle. 2. After a reset, open the door and check that both spray arms spin freely by hand and that no dish or utensil is blocking them. 3. Restart the cycle. 4. If 1-4 appears again, call us instead of trying more resets.
It directs the water between the spray arms during the wash. Without it moving to the right spot, wash water cannot go where the cycle expects.
Possibly, if a dish was briefly in the way. If it returns, the diverter or its drive is slow, and a repeat should be checked before it stops a cycle altogether.
The cycle stops when the diverter does not respond, so loads may come out partly washed. If you see 1-4, run the load again after a reset and call us if it recurs.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
