Viking VGIC5361 Range Troubleshooting
The VGIC5361 is a retired 36-inch Professional open burner range sold in 12 finishes, so you find it in kitchens with very different looks. It was one of Viking’s earlier open burner designs, with 15,000 BTU burners, a 30,000 BTU U-shaped oven burner and six oven functions that run from natural airflow baking to infrared broiling.
A range this size works hard, and the usual repairs concern the burners and the oven burner igniter. A spill under a burner head can ruin the spark, and a weak oven igniter will delay the gas valve until the oven seems to take forever. The broiler igniter ages in the same way.
We clean and test each burner, run the oven through a heat cycle and test the broiler. Whenever a gas odor shows up, treat it as urgent: get out and call the gas utility. The price is in writing before we work, and the repair is warrantied for 30 days.
Not for the mechanical work, since the burners, igniters and valves are the same across finishes. We take care of the finish, and we confirm the model number before ordering any trim pieces.
Try natural airflow baking first, then the convection setting with the ProFlow baffle. If only one mode is uneven, we check the baffle and fan. If every mode is off, the sensor or igniter is more likely.
Many owners notice it lighting within about a minute of turning it on, and a much longer wait is a sign of a weak igniter. We measure the draw rather than guessing and replace it only if it fails the test.
Book in about a minute, or call the desk. Same-day windows inside the Loop on most days, next-day across the rest of Houston.
