VGIC307

Viking VGIC307 Sealed Burner Range

Most common issues on this model

  1. Sealed burner igniter clicking without lighting
  2. Spill-soaked burner cap with a ragged flame
  3. Oven bake burner slow to light
  4. Oven running hotter or cooler than the dial

A retired 30-inch range with a one-piece porcelainized top, the VGIC307 was meant for kitchens where spills are a fact of life: the raised edge around the cooktop keeps a boil-over on the surface instead of letting it run into the cabinet. Most of these ranges now sit in the same slide-in opening they were installed in years ago.

Sealed burners trade easy wiping for a different weak point. Liquid that creeps under a cap reaches the port and the igniter electrode, so the common calls are a burner that clicks without lighting or burns with a lazy, uneven flame. The oven is the second place we look, since a bake igniter that has aged lights late.

Our first visit is mostly cleaning and testing: lift the caps, dry the electrodes, and watch every flame. Call the gas utility from outside the house if you ever notice a gas smell near this range. We state the price before starting and warranty our workmanship for 30 days.

VGIC307VGIC307 questions
Does the raised edge on the VGIC307 top need any special care?

Wipe it with a soft cloth once the surface cools, and avoid abrasive pads on the porcelain. Dried sugar spills are worth lifting early. If liquid has run under a burner cap, let us clean and dry the electrode before the next use.

A sealed burner keeps clicking after I wiped the top. What is wrong?

Moisture or a thin film of residue on the electrode is the usual reason. We remove the cap, dry and clean the electrode, and check the spark gap. If the spark is weak, the spark module is the next item we test.

How do you test the oven temperature on this range?

We place a thermometer in the center of the oven, run a preheat cycle and compare readings against the dial. A consistent offset points to the temperature sensor or thermostat, which we explain and price before replacing.
