The VDSC365 is a retired 36-inch open burner dual fuel range, with gas burners on top and an electric oven below. At 36 inches it fits the most common cooking-wall opening, and the open burners give a strong flame that responds quickly to the dial.
Open burners show wear in their flame. If yellow tips or a lopsided flame appear, ports are blocked, and we clean them one by one. A burner that clicks without lighting gets its igniter tested. The electric oven is checked with a thermometer, and its elements, sensor and latch are tested. We identify the range from its label first, as published details are few. Should the smell of gas appear while you cook, leave the house and call the gas utility from the yard. First comes the price in writing, then the work, and then 30 days of workmanship warranty.
Residue in the ports or incomplete mixing of air and gas. We clean the ports and check the air shutter on the burner. A healthy flame is short, even and blue.
The oven is larger, but the checks are the same: elements, sensor, fan and latch. We match parts by the label. Cleaning and testing follow the same steps as on the smaller range.
Wood can break off in the port. We use a proper port tool or a fine brush and recommend the same. We use a port tool or a fine brush.
