The RDSCG230 is a retired Viking D3 30-inch gas self-clean sealed burner range with a five-burner layout. The oven pairs a 30,000 BTU u-shaped burner with a 15,000 BTU broiler and adds self-clean, so the oven has its own set of ignition parts to care for.
With five burners, we light each one and clean any that clicks without catching. Then we turn to the oven. A slow igniter is the most common reason for a delayed bake burner, and the broiler uses a similar igniter. After a self-clean cycle, we check the latch and lock. The grates are the movable kind, so we also confirm they sit evenly. Never test a suspected gas leak yourself: walk out and call the gas utility. Written price first, then the repair, then a 30-day workmanship warranty.
The layout gives different BTU levels on each burner, so you can move pans between them. If one performs poorly, we clean its ports and check its igniter.
Its igniter may be weak. We test it with a meter and replace it if it draws too little. We measure its current draw before replacing anything, since a glowing igniter can still fail to open the gas valve.
It is a standard feature. Remove racks and spills first, and let the oven cool before you open the door. Remove the racks first and wipe up heavy spills, then keep the kitchen ventilated while it runs.
