On current Viking VDWU and FDWU dishwashers in the 324, 524 and 724 series, E:03 is a heater error shown on the program indicator. The machine could not heat water or air as the cycle needs. Wash and dry results suffer: dishes may come out cooler and wetter than normal, and the cycle may stop with the E:03 icon on.
1. Switch the dishwasher off at the breaker for a minute, then back on. 2. Run a short cycle and see whether E:03 returns. 3. After the cycle, feel the inside of the door; it should be warm if heating worked. 4. If E:03 returns, stop using the machine and call us. Heater testing is not an owner job.
It warms the wash water and helps dry the load. When it fails, dishes may not clean well, and the drying phase leaves moisture behind.
Heavy scale can affect a heater over time, but the code itself only says the heater has a problem. We confirm the real cause before recommending a part.
One reset is fine. If E:03 comes back, stop. A heater problem can mean overheating or no heat, and either one is best checked before more use.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
