What Check Water light (flashing blue) means

On Viking 3 and 5 Series clear-ice and nugget ice machines such as the FGIM5151 and FPIM5151, a flashing blue Check Water light means there is no water supply. The control checks for water every 20 minutes and restarts ice making by itself when water returns. You see no new ice while the light flashes. Water may come back by itself, so the light can clear without any repair.

Common causes of Check Water light (flashing blue)

  • Water supply valve closed
  • Water line kinked or frozen
  • Clogged water filter or inlet screen
  • Low water pressure
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Check that the water shutoff valve behind or beside the unit is fully open. 2. Look for a kinked supply line. 3. Confirm other taps in the house have water. 4. Wait 20 minutes after restoring water. 5. If the light keeps flashing with water present, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Supply line work can mean leaks
  • The inlet valve is inside the unit
  • Water damage risk if lines are mishandled
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

The valve is open and the light still flashes. Why?

The water filter, the line or the inlet valve could be restricted. Call us and tell us what you checked. Tell us what you checked, such as the valve, the line and the house water, so we start in the right place.

How much does a visit cost?
