On Viking undercounter beverage centers with an ice maker, for example the VURI1401D, VURI1401T and DURI140D, three blinks on the diagnostic LED behind the grille mean the evaporator normal-cycling thermistor is out of range. The control uses that reading to cycle cooling, so the unit may run too long or stop too early. You may also notice ice production or cooling behaving oddly.
1. Confirm the unit has power and the set temperature is normal. 2. Unplug it for a minute and plug it back in. 3. Keep the door closed. 4. Check that vents are clear. 5. If it still misbehaves, call us.
The LED sits behind the grille. We usually read it during a visit, but you can note the pattern if you can see it. Tell us what you saw.
Two blinks means the defrost thermistor. Three blinks means the evaporator normal-cycling thermistor. Three blinks can be mistaken for two, so count a few cycles and tell us what you see.
We test the thermistor and replace it if needed. You get the price in writing first, and the work has a 30-day warranty. That visit also lets us check airflow and the door seal, which affect cycling.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
