On Viking Professional and Designer 15-inch undercounter ice machines in the VUIM, DUIM and DFIM 150 series, such as the VUIM150D and DUIM150D, two flashes of the diagnostic LED mean the bin sensor, the bin thermistor, is open or shorted. The control reads the bin sensor to know when the bin is full, so with a bad reading it may stop making ice or run when it should not.
1. Check that the ice bin is seated and nothing blocks the sensor area at the back of the bin. 2. Remove the ice, wipe the bin and wipe up any water. 3. Switch the machine off at its breaker for a few minutes, then restore it. 4. If the LED still blinks twice, call us. Do not reach into the evaporator area.
It blinks a number of times, then pauses, and repeats. Two blinks point to the bin sensor, which tells the control how full the bin is.
It might run on a wrong reading, either making too little or not stopping when the bin is full. Turn it off if ice is spilling or the bin is overfull.
No. On Viking beverage center ice makers, two blinks can mean a different sensor. Match the code to your 150 series model before you compare.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
