On first-generation Viking 7 Series and Virtuoso fully integrated columns, including the all-freezer VFI7180W, VFI7240W and MVFI7240W, a flashing temperature display with an alarm tone is the high temperature alarm. It sounds when the freezer temperature rises above the allowed maximum, just as on the matching refrigerators. You hear the tone and see the numbers blink until the cabinet recovers or the alarm is silenced.
1. Close the freezer door fully and check for items blocking the seal. 2. Silence the tone with the alarm key. 3. Vacuum the grille at the bottom of the column. 4. Avoid adding large amounts of unfrozen food. 5. Check the temperature after a few hours. 6. If it stays high, call us.
The blinking numbers and the tone together say the freezer went above its allowed temperature. It is the high temperature alarm, not a random flash.
If food has thawed and refrozen, or the freezer has been above 0F for hours, check it carefully. Food with ice crystals is generally still firm, but do not guess.
Yes, with the alarm key, but if the temperature stays high the alarm returns. Call us if it does. We quote in writing first and back repairs for 30 days.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
