On current Viking fully integrated columns with a touch display, such as the FDFZIC7180, FDFZIC7300 and FDBMIC7360, the message Lower unit too warm means the freezer is warmer than it should be. Check the troubleshooting guide for causes. Most often the door is not sealing, warm food was added, or air cannot move around the condenser grille. The message clears when the freezer cools back to its setting.
1. Close the door fully and check the seal. 2. Remove anything blocking the door or the air vents. 3. Vacuum the grille. 4. Do not add large loads of warm food. 5. Check the temperature with a thermometer after several hours. 6. If it stays warm, call us.
Common causes are an open door, a load of warm food, a dirty grille or a cooling problem. We start with the simple ones. A thermometer helps tell them apart.
Aim for around 0F. If a thermometer reads much higher, move perishable food to another freezer. Lighter loads and clear airflow help the freezer pull down faster after a warm spell.
We give you a written price before work, and our repairs include a 30-day workmanship warranty. A thermometer reading helps us decide whether the problem is the door, the airflow or the cooling system.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
