On first-generation Viking 7 Series and Virtuoso fully integrated columns, such as the VRI7240W, VFI7240W and VBI7360W, a flashing temperature display with an alarm is the High Temperature Alarm. It sounds when the compartment temperature rises above the allowed maximum. Pressing the alarm button mutes the sound, but the display keeps flashing until the temperature drops back to the normal maximum.
1. Press the alarm button to mute the sound. 2. Push the door shut until it seals, and look for anything in its path. 3. Wait a few hours and see whether the flashing stops. 4. Vacuum dust from the grille and condenser with the power off. 5. If the display keeps flashing, move perishables and call us.
Yes, once the temperature falls back to the normal maximum. Muting the alarm only silences the sound, so the display keeps flashing until cooling catches up.
After a door left open or a big load, a few hours is reasonable. If the display is still flashing the next day, the unit is not cooling properly and needs service.
Check the temperature shown and how long it stayed high. Perishable food held warm for hours should be discarded. We can inspect the cooling system the same day we can reach you.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
