On Viking Professional and Designer undercounter refrigerators with TruProtect control, such as the VUAR1531T, the DUAR1531 and VURD refrigerated drawers, E2 reports a condenser fan motor problem, with the motor drawing high or low amps. The condenser fan moves air over the coils at the bottom, so a fan that is blocked or failing lets the cabinet warm up slowly while the display shows E2.
1. Switch the unit off and unplug it. 2. Vacuum dust from the front grille and look for anything touching the fan. 3. Plug it back in and clear the code: hold SET, press ON four times. 4. Listen for the fan. 5. If E2 returns, call us.
It pulls air across the condenser coils to carry heat away. Without enough airflow the compressor runs hotter and the cabinet struggles to stay cold, which is why a fan problem gets its own code.
Often it does, because dust makes the fan work harder and can trigger E2. Vacuum gently from the front with the unit unplugged, and make sure nothing blocks the vent space.
If the cabinet is still cold you have a little time, but keep the grille clear and call us soon. We quote the price in writing before any work starts.
