On Viking 3 Series French-door refrigerators such as the RVRF336 and RVRF3361, the display has two alerts. The Door Ajar indicator and alarm come on when a door is left open and stop when you close it. The Power Fail alert shows blinking temperatures after a power outage, and it stays until you press Mute. Both are information screens, not a breakdown of the refrigerator.
1. Close both doors firmly and check that nothing blocks them. 2. Press Mute to silence the alarm. 3. After an outage, read the highest temperature shown before you clear the alert. 4. Check the food in the freezer for thawing and discard anything unsafe. 5. Wipe the gaskets, and call us if the Door Ajar alert stays with doors shut.
Usually not. The Power Fail alert is only telling you the power was off. Press Mute, check your food, and the refrigerator continues as normal.
A door may be sitting open a little because of a bin or bottle, or the gasket may be dirty. Fix those first. If the alert stays with doors closed, the door switch may need testing.
The Power Fail alert shows the highest temperature reached. If the compartments stayed cold and frozen food is still firm, it is usually fine. When in doubt, discard perishable items.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
