Viking Undercounter Refrigerator Code DA: door left ajar

What DA means

On Viking 3 and 5 Series undercounter refrigeration with the electronic controller, such as the VRCI5240G, VRDI5240D and VRCO5240D, DA flashing on the controller means the door has been left ajar. The unit is telling you the door is not fully closed. Other letters on this controller are normal info: Hi and Lo show stored maximum and minimum temperatures, PoF means the keypad is locked, and rSt resets the stored readings.

Common causes of DA

A door that has not closed fully, or was pushed back open
Items in the unit that block the door from closing
A worn or dirty door gasket that prevents a full seal
A door that is out of level so it swings open slightly

1. Close the door firmly and watch whether DA stops flashing. 2. Check that bottles, trays or shelves are not holding the door open. 3. Wipe the gasket with warm water and dry it. 4. Check that the unit sits level and the door swings freely. 5. If DA stays after the door is clearly shut, call us.

Does DA mean the refrigerator is broken?

No. It says the door was left ajar. Closing it fully usually ends the message, and the unit goes back to normal cooling without any repair or reset needed.

The door looks closed, but DA keeps flashing.

Check for items holding it slightly open, wipe the gasket, and make sure the unit is level. If DA stays, the door switch or controller may need a look.

What are Hi, Lo and PoF on this controller?
