On the 18-inch secondary oven of Viking VDSC548T ranges, such as the VDSC548T-4GQ or VDSC548T-6B, this condition is shown by lights rather than text: the clean light stays on and the cycle light flashes nine times. It means the oven temperature went well past the set point, above 650F for more than 10 minutes with the door unlocked. The control stops heating to protect the range.
1. Turn the small oven off. 2. Keep the door closed and do not open it while it is hot. 3. Let it cool completely. 4. Switch the range breaker off. 5. Call us before you use that oven again, because an overheat should be checked in person.
Count nine flashes of the cycle light with the clean light on. It shows the oven went far above its setting, over 650F for more than 10 minutes with the door unlocked.
Wait until the oven is completely cool. Opening a very hot oven risks burns, and fresh air can feed a hot oven. Switch it off at the breaker and keep the door shut.
The main oven may still work, but we advise leaving the whole range off until we check the cause. We quote the price in writing first, with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
