On Viking Professional VDSC5xxT dual-fuel ranges with EOC4 control, for example the VDSC536T-6B or VDSC548T-4GQ, the Keyboard message says an internal disconnection was sensed between the tactile-key board and the VDSC display board. These are two boards joined by a cable. When the cable or its connector loses contact, the keys cannot reach the control, so the oven may ignore your presses.
1. Turn the oven off and wait for the display to go dark. 2. Switch the range breaker off for a minute and back on. 3. Gently wipe the key area with a dry cloth, no spray cleaner. 4. Press a key once and see if it responds. 5. If Keyboard returns, call us instead of opening the panel.
The key board has lost its link to the display, so the control never receives your presses. Reseating the cable usually restores them, but that needs access behind the panel.
Moisture can corrode a connector over time. If you sprayed cleaner near the keys, tell us on the phone, because it helps us decide which contacts to check first and how to dry them.
We would leave it off until the keys work. If a cook cycle is running without control of it, it is safer to shut off the breaker and wait for the visit, so nothing heats unattended.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
