On Viking Professional 48-inch and 60-inch ranges with a griddle, such as the VDSC548-4G, VGSC548-4G and VGIC4864GSS, the griddle cycle light flashing twice and then staying off for four seconds means the griddle RTD probe has failed or is misreading. The RTD is the temperature probe the thermostat control uses to hold griddle heat. On 48-inch ranges the same pattern also applies to the left-hand oven, so we check which one is meant.
1. Turn the griddle and oven off and let everything cool. 2. Should a gas smell ever appear, walk out and call the gas utility from a neighbor's or your yard. 3. Clean grease from around the griddle plate edges once it is cool. 4. Switch the range breaker off for one minute and back on. 5. If the pattern returns, call us.
Watch which cycle light flashes. On 48-inch ranges the same two-flash pattern can come from the left-hand oven, so we confirm which probe is meant before ordering.
Often yes, but if you smell gas leave the house and call the gas utility from outside. Avoid the griddle until it is checked, because it cannot read its own temperature.
