Viking VRDI1240D Drawer Service
The VRDI1240D is a retired set of double-stacked refrigerated drawers that fit a standard 24-inch undercounter opening and add 5.3 cubic feet of cold storage. The controls are hidden touch pads, with temperature adjustable from 32 to 39 degrees Fahrenheit. In an island or a bar, the drawer faces are often panels or stainless fronts, so alignment matters.
We service a VRDI1240D by testing both drawers separately, because the upper and lower can behave differently. We check the touch pad response, the displayed and actual temperatures, and the drawer slides and seals. The fan and condenser area at the base are cleaned and inspected. A written price comes before any part is ordered for this retired model, and the repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty.
It could be moisture or grease on the surface, a loose ribbon connection or the control board. We clean the panel and test the connection before recommending a board.
Cold air may not be reaching it evenly. A fan or damper issue, or a drawer that is not sealing, is the usual reason. We test both drawers with a thermometer.
The control allows 32 to 39 degrees Fahrenheit. If the actual temperature does not follow the setting, we test the sensor and the fan. Most owners keep food near 37 degrees, though drinks can run colder inside that range.
