Viking FRCI1240G Panel Undercounter Refrigerator
The FRCI1240G is a retired 24-inch custom panel undercounter refrigerator. It slips beneath a counter in a bar, a pantry or an island, and takes a cabinetry panel on its door so that it reads as part of the cabinets.
An undercounter box breathes through its front grille, which is also where the lint, flour dust and pet hair end up. Once the condenser behind the grille is coated, the compressor runs nearly nonstop and the interior drifts warm. The door gasket is next: a panel adds weight, and a door that hangs low lets in air.
We vacuum the airflow path, check how the door hangs and compare the interior with a thermometer. You get the price in writing before any repair, and the work is covered for 30 days.
A dust-coated condenser behind the grille is the most frequent cause, followed by a leaking door gasket. We clean the airflow path first and then test the seal.
No. The grille is the unit's air intake and exhaust, and covering it overheats the compressor. If the install is tight, we can advise on the clearance.
A heavy panel can pull the door out of line, or the hinge may be loose. We adjust the hinge and check that the gasket touches all the way around.
