The FDSB5482D adds a through-the-door dispenser to the retired 48-inch FDSB5482. The panels come from a local source, the handles are Viking Professional or custom, and the water supply runs to the back of the cabinet.

Because it has a dispenser, the freezer door is the heavy one and the water path is the long one. A door that has dropped lets humid air in, and the ice maker freezes in the damp; a filter that has outlived its life slows the water. These two problems often show together.

The dispenser makes noise but no water comes out. What next?

The valve may not be opening, or the filter may be blocked. We check the supply, the filter and the valve in that order. A tiny mesh screen in the valve can clog with scale, which we clean or replace.

Why does ice taste off?

An old filter or stale ice in the bin are common causes. Replace the filter and empty the bin before assuming a part has failed.

How can I tell the door is out of alignment?

Look for an uneven gap with the neighboring cabinet, or a door that does not close by itself. We adjust it. A door that swings open on its own is another sign.
