Viking DDFF136 36-Inch French-Door

Most common issues on this model

  1. Door-open alarm sounding with the doors closed
  2. Door seal gap at the center
  3. Fresh food section warm
  4. Frost in the freezer drawer

The DDFF136 is a retired 36-inch Designer French-door bottom-freezer. Its electronic alarm sounds when a door has been ajar for five minutes, a useful warning in a house where small children or busy cooks leave doors loose. A five-minute warning is long enough for a mistake to be noticed but short enough to catch a slip.

When the alarm sounds with both doors shut, the cause is nearly always the door switch, a hinge that has sagged, or a gasket that no longer touches the frame. The same sagging leaks cold air and builds condensation along the center seam.

We test the switch, check hinge alignment and gaskets, and take temperatures. A written price comes first, and our work has a 30-day warranty.

DDFF136DDFF136 questions
The alarm on my DDFF136 sounds although the doors are closed. Why?

The door switch may be stuck or a door may not be seating fully. We test the switch and adjust the hinges so the doors close square.

How do I check a French-door seal?

Close a sheet of paper in the door; it should hold firmly. If it slides out at any point, that part of the seal is weak.

Why is the bottom drawer frosting?

A drawer that does not close flush lets warm air in. We check the slides and the gasket. Also check that nothing is wedged under the drawer rim.
