Viking DDBB536 Designer Bottom-Freezer

Most common issues on this model

  1. Freezer drawer not closing flush
  2. Frost building around the freezer drawer
  3. Refrigerator section warm at the top
  4. Door gasket gap

The DDBB536 is a retired 36-inch Designer Series bottom-mount refrigerator/freezer. Its drawer-style freezer keeps frozen foods tidy and makes bulky items easier to reach, while the large refrigerator compartment above puts fresh food at a comfortable level. Like most bottom-mount units, it is judged by where frost forms and how the drawer closes.

The drawer is the part that works the hardest. Slides loosen, the front shifts, and a drawer that no longer closes flush lets warm air in and builds frost around the opening. The refrigerator door gaskets on a unit of this age are the second area, followed by the condenser fan.

We check drawer travel and the seal, then measure both compartments. A written price is given before any work starts, and our workmanship comes with a 30-day warranty.

DDBB536DDBB536 questions
My freezer drawer will not close all the way. What is wrong?

A worn slide, a drawer front that has shifted or an overloaded basket is usual. We inspect the track, adjust or replace the slide and check that the gasket seats.

Why is there frost around the drawer opening?

Warm air entering past a gap in the gasket freezes at the opening. Fixing the closure and the gasket stops it, and we clear the frost safely.

Is a drawer-style freezer harder to maintain than a door?

It has more moving parts, so the slides deserve attention. Keeping loads within the basket rim helps them last. A wipe of the track with a dry cloth every few months also prevents ice from forming there.
