Viking VMOS201 Microwave Oven Service
The VMOS201 is an older Professional Series microwave oven, 24 inches wide with 2.0 cubic feet of capacity, built in or set on the counter. It has sensor cooking programs, a rotating turntable, and controls that are mechanical or basic electronic depending on the year.
After years of service, the door is the first thing to tire: the seal hardens, the latch loosens and the interlock switches begin to hesitate. The high-voltage parts are the other age-related items, so an oven that spins but does not heat gets the magnetron and diode tested. A turntable that has stopped usually means a motor or coupler, which is a smaller repair. We always test the door before the oven is returned to use.
The price is written first.
Look for a hardened or cracked seal, a latch that feels loose, or an oven that stops when you press the door. Do not use the oven if the door does not close tightly.
A failing magnetron, a bad high-voltage diode or a failed capacitor. We test each safely and replace only the failed part, with the price quoted first.
If the cavity and door are sound, a repair of a latch, motor or high-voltage part is often worthwhile, especially for a built-in. We give you the cost first.
