On Viking sensor microwaves such as the VMOR205SS and RVMHC330SS convection microwave hoods, and the VMDD5306SS and VMOC506SS, ERROR on the display has several meanings. If the sensor does not detect vapor properly during sensor cooking, ERROR appears and the oven turns off. It also appears for an invalid clock entry, or for amounts or weights outside the allowed range. An open or shorted humidity sensor can also cause it.
1. Press Stop/Clear and check the entry you made; re-enter the clock time or food weight within the range the oven accepts. 2. For sensor cooking, use a microwave-safe container, loosen the cover so steam can escape, and choose the right food category. 3. Keep the door closed during the sensor phase. 4. If ERROR returns on every sensor program, call us.
No. It often just says the sensor did not detect vapor or the entry was out of range. Re-enter the setting and adjust the covering before assuming a repair.
Sensor cooking relies on detecting steam from the food. If the food is covered too tightly or the portion is too small, no vapor is detected and the oven stops.
If ERROR appears on every sensor program even with the right food, container and entry, the humidity sensor may be open or shorted and needs to be tested.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
