On the Viking VMOH330SS over-the-range microwave hood (2019 model), Er01 stands for a sensor error. It appears when sensor cooking cannot detect the vapor coming off the food, so the oven cannot finish the cycle by itself. The display shows Er01 and the cycle ends early. The official remedy is to press STOP/CLEAR and cook by time, so this is mostly a cooking-mode message rather than a part that failed.
1. Press STOP/CLEAR to clear Er01. 2. Wipe the cavity and the door seal so steam can vent. 3. Leave sensor foods loosely covered and do not open the door during the sensor stage. 4. Finish the food using a set time and power level. 5. Try a sensor program again once with a different food before deciding anything.
Yes. Press STOP/CLEAR and cook by time. Only the sensor feature is affected, and normal timed cooking, defrosting and reheating all work the same way as before.
The sensor looks for vapor. Dry foods or tightly sealed containers give it little to measure, so those cycles end early. Foods that steam freely rarely trigger the code at all.
If Er01 returns on every sensor program with ordinary moist food, a technician should check the sensor path. We give a written price before starting and stand behind the work for 30 days.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
