Viking VMOR506 Convection Hood Service
The VMOR506 is a 30-inch convection microwave hood from the 5 Series with a 1.1 cu ft cavity and several convection modes. It is mounted above the range, so its vent fan, lamps and heating paths all work in the rising heat of the cooktop.
Hot-air cooking puts the convection heater and its fan to work for many minutes at a time. If the oven bakes unevenly, the fan is the first suspect; if it never warms, we measure the heater and the sensor. A cycle that stops with the cabinet warm often means the thermal protector reacted to weak cooling airflow.
The hood side gets the same attention: filters, fan speeds and lamps. We write the price before any work and cover the repair with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
The convection fan moves the heat. If it spins slowly, vibrates or has a cracked blade, the heat pools. We inspect the fan, then test the heater and the sensor.
Grease builds on the blades and bearings wear. We clean and test the fan, and replace the motor only if the bearings are the problem.
Stop using it and let it cool. A burning smell can come from grease or a failing part, and we inspect the heater, filters and wiring before it is used again.
