Viking VMOR205 Microwave Hood Service
The VMOR205 is a Professional Series convection microwave hood, built in above a range with a trim kit. It has 13 sensor cooking settings, a rotating turntable and a child safety lock.
A microwave hood works in two roles, which doubles the wear points: the oven side has the door, latch, turntable and high-voltage parts, and the hood side has a fan and lights over the cooktop. We start by testing the door latch and interlocks, then the heating circuits, then the turntable motor. The fan and lamps are tested separately, since grease from the cooktop below collects on them. We never return a microwave to use with a damaged door.
Your written price comes before work, and repairs come with a 30-day warranty.
Grease collects on the blades, and the motor bearings age. We clean the fan and test the motor, replacing it if the sound or speed is not right.
A weakening magnetron or a failing capacitor may be the reason. We test the high-voltage parts safely, with the power off and the capacitor discharged, and replace the one that fails.
The trim kit frames the oven in the cabinet opening. We do not need to remove it for most repairs, but we check it for fit if the oven has shifted.
