Viking VICU266 36-Inch Induction Cooktop
The VICU266 is a 36-inch all-induction cooktop listed in the 5 Series and now retired. It uses a Power Management induction system, which the old description says speeds boil times and still allows a quick simmer for sauces.
Power sharing is useful, but it makes service calls more subtle. A zone may seem weak simply because several others are running at high, or it may be failing for real. To tell them apart, we test each zone alone, then in pairs, then all together, and compare. We also check the clearance and cooling beneath the glass, since heat limits are the other reason zones step down. The touch panel and the cookware get checked before anything is replaced.
The price is always written out first.
Yes, the Power Management system shares available power among zones, so heat may step down when many run at high. If a zone shuts off completely or never reaches full power alone, we test it.
Magnetic pans, such as cast iron or magnetic stainless steel, are compatible. A magnet that clings to the base is a reliable test. Poorly matched pans heat slowly or are not detected.
The fan usually runs during and after cooking. If you hear nothing while the cooktop is hot, or if shutdowns repeat, call us and we will check the fan and the airflow path.
