On Viking Designer DETU series touch-control radiant cooktops, the timer display shows F plus a letter when the control finds a problem. FA is a key error, so the control stops all heating elements and shows the code. A touch key may be stuck, or a key circuit may be reporting wrongly. Capital and small letters mean different things on this cooktop, so note exactly which one you see.
1. Turn everything off and let the glass cool. 2. Wipe the touch area with a clean, dry cloth and remove pans or towels touching it. 3. Turn the cooktop's breaker off, count to sixty, and turn it on. 4. Try the on key. 5. If FA returns, call us.
The control cannot be sure what you are asking for if a key seems stuck, so it shuts off all elements as a safety measure.
Not necessarily. Letter case matters on this cooktop. Tell us exactly what you see, capital or small letters, when you call, and tell us whether any zone was heating when the code appeared.
We test the keys and the control and replace what failed. The price is written first and the work has a 30-day workmanship warranty. You approve the price first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
