On Viking Professional VICU206 and VICU266 induction cooktops, plus the hybrid VCCU106 and VCCU166 and the VISC530 induction range, code 6 reports an error on the filter board. The board may hold wrong stored data, see a permanently low voltage, have an electronic device error, or have lost its data. The cooktop treats this as a control problem, so zones commonly will not start while the 6 is showing.
1. Check that other appliances on the same circuit are working and that the cooktop breaker has not tripped. 2. Switch the cooktop breaker off for a minute and back on. 3. If the 6 returns, keep the cooktop switched off. The filter board is under the glass, and a low-voltage check needs instruments, so schedule a visit instead of lifting anything.
It sits between the incoming power and the induction electronics and cleans up the supply. Code 6 means that board reported a data, voltage or device problem.
A permanently low voltage is one listed reason, so we look at the supply during the visit. If the cooktop's breaker is tripping, mention that when you call.
Not before checking. We confirm the reading on site, give you a written price, and replace the board only when it is the part that is actually reporting the error.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
