On Viking Designer DETU series touch-control radiant cooktops, Fd is an LED on/off test error. The control checks its indicator lights as part of its self-test, and Fd means that check did not come out right. The elements all go cold, and the timer display keeps showing the code. The cooktop may be fine otherwise, but it will not heat until the check passes.
1. Turn all controls off and wait for the glass to cool. 2. Switch the breaker off for a full minute and restore power. 3. Watch whether the indicator lights come on normally. 4. Touch the on key once. 5. If Fd returns, call us.
The control turns its indicator lights on and off during a self-test and checks the result. If the circuit does not answer, it shows Fd and stops heating. The control runs this check on its own, and the result is what you see.
If the test passes the second time, yes. If Fd returns, a part in the LED circuit or the control needs service, but only a technician can say whether a part is needed.
