On Viking Professional VICU206 and VICU266 induction cooktops, the hybrid VCCU106 and VCCU166, and the VISC530 induction range, Overheat appears without a number. The temperature sensor has found the induction coil or the power board too hot, so the zone shuts down to protect itself. Let the zone cool down; the display clears by itself once it has cooled enough.
1. Turn the zone off and let the cooktop rest until the message clears on its own. 2. Check that nothing is stored against the cooktop's vents or underneath where air should flow. 3. Resume cooking at a lower heat. 4. If Overheat comes back during light cooking, stop using the zone and call us.
It can happen if a zone has been pushed hard for a long time. The cooktop is protecting itself, and it recovers once it cools. Frequent cases on gentle cooking are not normal.
The message cancels itself after the induction coil and power board cool down. Leave the zone off and avoid restarting it until the display returns to normal.
Yes. The electronics under an induction top need air movement. Items stored tight against the cooktop or cabinet clutter beneath it can raise the temperature.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
