Viking VGR5486G 48-Inch Gas Range
The VGR5486G is a current 5 Series 48-inch freestanding gas range with six open burners, a griddle, VariSimmer on every burner, dual ProFlow convection ovens and SureSpark re-ignition. It is a large range, set in kitchens built around one main cooking wall.
The two ovens share a control board, so a problem sometimes shows up in one cavity while the other bakes normally. We test each oven for temperature and lock behavior, then look at the board if both are affected. On top, we check the griddle for even heat, clean the burner ports and run a spark test on each burner. A range this wide must also be level for the griddle to heat evenly, so we check the feet.
We ask that anyone smelling gas leave the house and call the gas utility from outside, not from the kitchen. We give the price in writing before work and stand behind the repair for 30 days.
Each cavity has its own sensor, element or lock, so the one acting up has a failed part of its own. If both act up, the shared control board is the next place we look.
Uneven flame beneath the plate or a thermostat reading wrong would cause it. We examine the flame pattern, clean the burner and test the thermostat. We also check the plate sits flat on its supports.
Yes, they are designed to work together. If a breaker or the gas supply struggles, tell us and we will check the connections. We check the supply line and regulator if flames shrink as you add burners.
