Viking VGIC245K Cooker Range Service
The VGIC245K is a retired 24-inch companion range in the Classic Series, designed with a specialty cooking station rather than the usual open burner layout. It tends to live in a compact kitchen, a second kitchen or alongside a larger Viking where the owner wanted one extra cooking tool.
A burner dedicated to a single task works hard when it is used, and heavy pots and spilled liquid are what usually clog its ports. When the flame is uneven or the igniter clicks without catching, we clean the burner, check the electrode gap and then look at the valve.
Before any work we give you the price in writing, and repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty. Because this is a gas range, any gas odor means you step out of the house and notify the gas utility from outside.
Gas is likely reaching the burner, but the spark is weak or the ports are partly blocked. We clean the burner, check the electrode for damp or carbon, and watch several ignition cycles before deciding whether the igniter itself needs replacement.
Keep pots centered over the flame and match the cookware to the cooking station it holds. Oversized cookware traps heat and can scorch the surface and knobs. If you are unsure, we can look at how everything sits during a visit.
Igniters and valves last many years, but they age with moisture and grease. Replacement is repair-by-repair, not automatic. We test first and recommend only the parts that actually fail, with the cost quoted beforehand.
