Viking RVMHC330 Convection Microwave Hood
The RVMHC330 is a 30-inch convection microwave hood from the 3 Series with a 1.1 cu ft cavity and several convection modes. It does two jobs above the range, hot-air baking and microwave cooking, and each job has its own heating path that can fail separately.
When an owner says it does not bake, we separate the paths. A working microwave with a cold convection mode points to the convection heater, the temperature sensor or the relay. If the oven stops mid-cycle while the fan keeps running, a thermal protector or a weak cooling fan is the likely cause.
We also look over the vent fan and filters because they sit in the same cabinet. You receive a written price before we begin, and the repair is covered by our 30-day workmanship warranty.
The heater may be weakened, or the temperature sensor may report the wrong value so the control cuts power early. We measure heater resistance and sensor readings against a known good range.
Use only the accessories made for convection mode, and never put metal in a microwave-only cycle. Arcing from the wrong rack can burn the cavity wall, which we then have to inspect.
We check the cooling fan and airflow, then the thermal protector. Convection heat inside the cabinet can trip protection when a fan is slow, so we confirm airflow before replacing parts.
